The Greenwich Theater Company revisits “A Christmas Memory” by Truman Capote with a virtual performance

Scene… Gregorys Coffee at 342 Greenwich Ave. celebrated its grand opening last Thursday by donating 100 percent of its proceeds to Coffee for Good, a non-profit cafe located at the Mead House of the Second Congregational Church run by a Greenwich resident. Gregorys employees include the first two graduates of the Coffee for Good training platform for adults with disabilities. the founder of Grégory Gregory Zamfotis confirmed that he plans to open a second location in Noroton Heights at Darien Commons next year.

The low… The Greenwich Theater Company & Theater Artists Workshop presents a virtual performance of “A Christmas Memory” by Truman Capote from 8 p.m. on Monday, December 20 and until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 26. It tells the true story of Capote’s childhood Christmas memories in Monroeville, Alabama, where he was raised by his mother’s family. Capote attended Greenwich High School from 1939 to 1941, and during his stay he wrote for the high school literary journal, The Green Witch. Scene… The Bedford Candy Bar opened on December 6 at 627 Old Post Road near Bedford, NY The candy store is owned by Jim and Jennifer vellano, the chef / owner of GE Brown Fine Food & Provisions across the street. They serve retro sweets from the 50s, 60s and 70s including saltwater taffy, dots, candy necklaces, smarties and a great selection of chocolates as well as ice cream, milkshakes, hot chocolate, popcorn and longford hot dogs. The low… Greenwich Recreation and the Greenwich Arts Council present the 10th annual snow sculpture competition. Throughout the winter, the townspeople are encouraged to create their best snow sculptures. Submit a photo of your masterpiece for a chance to win a prize. To enter, email a photo with title, sculptor (s) full name (s) and home address to [email protected] The deadline to participate is Friday March 4. The contest is open to Greenwich residents only.

Lessons and songs … “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” takes place at 5 pm on Sunday December 19 at Christ Church Greenwich at 254 E. Putnam Ave. The evening will feature Christmas carols performed by the Christ Church Choir of Men and Boys, St. Cecilia Choir of Girls, Christ Church Singers and Christ Church Bell Choir. Holiday music …
Christmas Tradition Meets Broadway, a holiday concert, takes place at 6 pm Sunday, December 19 at Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien. The concert, entitled “Hope is on the road”, will be conducted by Dan Micciche, Music Director / Conductor of Broadway’s “Wicked” and Dwayne Condon, the musical director of the church. It will feature Broadway artists including Tamar greene of “Hamilton” and Eryn LeCroy, Meghan Picerno and John Riddle of “Phantom of the Opera”, alongside members of the NPC Chamber Choir. Free and open to the public, the concert will also be webcast live on the Noroton Presbyterian Church’s website at www.noroton.church.
