Company issues ground beef product recall due to E.coli contamination
STATEN ISLAND, NY – Interstate Meat Distributors Inc. has recalled more than 28,000 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli, the US Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced earlier this week. of Agriculture.
The recalled ground beef was produced on December 20, 2021 and was shipped to retail locations in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
The issue was reported to FSIS after a retail package of ground beef was purchased and submitted to a third-party lab for analysis, where the sample tested positive for E. coli, according to a report.
E. coli, which is a deadly bacteria, can cause a range of medical problems and force people to seek emergency care.
Those who may have purchased ground beef from labels such as WinCo Fresh Ground Beef, Wal-Mart All-Natural Ground Beef, Kroger Ground Beef from Kroger, and Albertsons Signature Farms Ground Beef should check their packaging and discard the meat immediately, the report states.
FSIS advises all consumers to safely prepare any raw ground beef, ensuring it is cooked to a temperature of 160, to ensure that all harmful bacteria have been killed.
